Cadmium, Cd (48)

Cadmium is a by-product of the zinc refining process. Cadmium is used today primarily in rechargeable nickel-cadmium (NiCd) batteries. Other uses include anti-corrosion coatings in critical components (eg: aircraft parts), a stabilizer component in plastics, and as cadmium telluride (CdTe) in solar panels. Cadmium is also used in pigment applications, where it produces vibrant yellows in plastics, paints, and ceramics.

Cadmium metal is available in balls, sticks, bars, large ingots, and billets (cylindrical shapes) with purities of 99.95% and 99.99%.
