Antimony

Antimony

Antimony, Sb (51)

Antimony is largely mined and refined in China. Much of the antimony produced is subsequently converted to antimony trioxide for use as in flame retardant compounds. In its metallic form, antimony is alloyed with lead for use in certain lead-acid batteries where it improves charging characteristics. Antimony is also used in cable sheathing, solders, and in some anti-friction applications.

Antimony metal is produced in ingot or powder form. Antimony trioxide is produced in powder form.  Typical antimony metal purity is 99.65%.
